Volunteer

Animal Care volunteers assist the Animal Care and Hospital staff with the daily care of the resident animals and rehab patients. Animal Care volunteers devote a large portion of their time to cleaning tanks, food preparation, water quality testing, washing laundry, and other duties as needed. This role does not guarantee hands-on work with animals. This position requires extensive training, detailed reporting and teamwork. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older and have graduated from high school.

Requirements: Volunteers must be able to lift over 50 pounds, tolerate frequent bending, and handle the weather changes of south Florida. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older and have graduated from high school.

Under the direction of the DSO and ADSO, volunteer divers will assist the dive team with routine snorkel and scuba dive operations in the aquarium exhibits. Divers will use both hand scrubbers and pressure washers to clean the rocks, coral structures, and acrylics. Opportunities for assisting in pier clean-up dives at the Juno Beach Pier are available with consistency in diving the aquarium exhibits.

Requirements: Applicants must be 18 years or older, have a rescue diver level certification from a recognized agency such as NAUI, PADI, or SSI, must have a minimum of 25 logged dives, with at least 6 dives completed within the last 12 months, and possess current healthcare provider level certifications in CPR, first aid, and oxygen administration. As a Conservation Volunteer with the Responsible Pier Initiative at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, you’ll play a key role in marine conservation while embracing the charm of our local piers. This dual-role position involves engaging in beach cleanups, educating visitors about sea turtle protection and sustainable practices, assisting in the rescue of stranded marine life, and promoting responsible fishing practices. You’ll also conduct angler surveys and participate in research to enhance conservation efforts. Candidates must be 16 or older, commit to a 4-hour shift each week, attend training sessions, and possess strong communication skills. As a Guest Services Volunteer at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, you’ll play a crucial role in facilitating program registrations and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere at the Greeter Station. Your responsibilities will include assisting visitors with inquiries, managing check-ins, and providing event information. You’ll engage with guests on the hospital floor, promoting our programs and ensuring their safety and well-being. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, commit to a 4-hour shift each week, and possess strong communication skills. As a Gift Shop Volunteer at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the store's efficiency and enhancing the customer experience. Responsibilities include organizing displays, restocking shelves, and ensuring the cleanliness of the store. You’ll assist customers in locating items, answer inquiries, and support store staff during busy periods. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and attention to detail. Volunteer staff must be at least eighteen years of age and must work a minimum of one 3.5 hour shift per week. There is a minimum six month commitment with exception to seasonal summer positions.

As a Special Events Volunteer at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, you’ll support our events team during after-hours events on weekdays and weekends. Responsibilities include helping with guest registration, answering inquiries, and engaging attendees to create a welcoming atmosphere. You’ll assist with traffic flow and collaborate with the Events Team to address any challenges that arise. As a Facilities Volunteer at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, you’ll support our Operations team in ensuring the smooth running of campus and pier events while handling essential maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include landscaping, cleaning, painting, and assisting with event setup and breakdown. This role requires physical stamina, as you’ll need to lift over 50 pounds, tolerate bending, and work in varying weather conditions. Candidates must be 18 or older and commit to one 4-hour shift per week or an 8-hour shift every other week. Join us in maintaining our facilities and contributing to the success of our programs!

Warehouse Volunteers at Loggerhead Marinelife Center support the daily operations of our retail warehouse by helping ensure incoming packages containing inventory are properly processed, organized, and prepared for distribution. This role is essential to keeping our retail space running smoothly and creating a positive experience for the community members we serve.

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older, lift at least 30lbs., tolerate standing for long periods of time and frequent bending, and work independently.
